Travelways moves to online booking
 PEOPLE planning a holiday to Tasmania will have access to a new booking website from today.After 50 years as a print publication, The Examiner's tourism publication Tasmanian Travelways has entered the online market with a new, simple to use website.
Tasmanian Travelways Online allows clients to book accommodation and tourism experiences in three simple steps. Tourism Minister Michelle O'Byrne cut a specially designed "e-ribbon'' to launch the website in front of more than 100 tourism industry guests at Country Club Tasmania this morning. The Examiner's general manager Phil Leersen said: "Travelways celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and over the past couple of years we have invested heavily in the printed product,'' Mr Leersen said. "We have improved the content, the presentation and the distribution. I am really pleased to say the market has accepted those changes with a vote of confidence ... and we now distribute more than 100,000 copies of the printed version, in peak season, through regional Victoria and NSW.'' Mr Leersen said it had made sense to expand the publication to the internet, to allow Tasmanian tourism operators access to wider e-comnmerce markets. "The simplicity of the site is very important -- when we spoke to the designers we said it had to be all about the user ``They have come up with an excellent website that allows the user to book their accommodation, from start to finish, in just three clicks.'' The Tasmanian Travelways Online website -- www.travelways.com.au -- was designed by Launceston company Walker Designs.
